Cricket News sort by India Vs Australia 4th Test at Delhi - Mar 22-26, 2013

When India and Australia took the field on Sunday, the game was evenly balanced. Australia had been cleaned up for a below par total in the first innings and India had lost eight wickets in reply, with a negligible lead of four. Australia squared things up completely early on day three, which turned out to be the last day of the Test, claiming the last two wickets for the addition of only six runs.

India completed a superb 4-0 whitewash over Australia through a 6-wicket win in the fourth and final Test at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. The Test match was over inside three days on a pitch that was heavily loaded in favour of the bowlers.

Nathan Lyon claimed his 3rd five-wicket haul to help Australia stay in the contest in the Fourth and Final Test at the Feroz Shah Kotla. India was restricted to 266 for 8 despite a strong opening stand of 108.

India failed to wrap up the Aussie innings on Day 1 despite having the visitors at 136 for 7 at one stage and having bowled as many as 97 overs. Stubborn knocks from Steven Smith and Peter Siddle helped the visitors to recover to a respectable 231 for 8 by stumps on the opening day’s play.

The Border Gavaskar Trophy is well and truly India’s now, but Australia would, without doubt, be keen on avoiding a 4-0 whitewash heading into Feroz Shah Kotla at Delhi. They pride themselves a lot on their performance irrespective of victory or defeat, and their efforts in the last three Tests would surely have disappointed the players as well as the fans big time.

So the action now moves to the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi for the fourth and final test of the Border/Gavaskar trophy series. The hosts, up 3-0, will have visions of a 4-0 clean sweep in mind, if for no other reason than to avenge the 0-4 humiliation that was dished out to them the last time they grappled down under.
